Arriving in the new home
During the first 24 hours the kitten should have access only to one or two rooms where litter box, food and water is placed due to the risk that it will “get lost” and forget where the litter box is. When you take your cat out of the transportation box you should put it down in the litter box. It will leave immediately but knowing it is there!

Introducing cat to cat
When introducing a new cat to another you should observe a few simple rules to make adjustment as short and painless as possible. Push for more.

How does the transportation and change of home affect the kitten?
When arriving in its transportation box – even after many hours of air travel – the kitten normally will greet you enthusiastically. Its first priority will be curiously search the preses before it will have time for you. Let it have its own way!

The kitten is used to humans and other animals. It has been in the hands of humans right from birth and is as confident with people as it is with its mother. It has been raised in the company of several other kittens and adult cats. It is psychologically stable and not easy to scare.

The adjustment to new surroundings will stress your cat a bit even if you are not able to notice it. The consequence of stress may be weakening of its immunity.  Infectious matter is all over where animals and humans live and the kitten may come across germs or virus it has not met before. Exane the kitten closely especially in the first weeks. According to our Sales Agreement you are under an obligation to consult me if problems arise during the first 6 months. Later on you are always welcome to ask for my advice and assistance.

The first period
The kitten must put on at least 50-100 gr. a week or around 10 gr. a day. Loss of weight is the first indication that something is wrong. Your kitten has been weighed every morning all its life and I strongly recommend you to continue daily weighing in the first month and then weekly the first year. If it does not put on weight as expected or even lose weight something is wrong. It ght just be dislike of the feed but may be illness cong up. You are under an obligation to contact me during the first 6 months in case of weight problems.

Feeding
The kind of nutrition decides the health and life length of your cat. Other things being equal the correctly feed cat will live for 15-20 years. The kitten is used to a professional quality dry feed with fresh water on the side. Suitable cat feed is sold by pet shops and veterinarians.  Only such feed contains all what the cat needs and has a very low content of Magnesium. If the content of Magnesium is too high, your cat will probably die from some disease in the urinary system at the age of 12-14 years. You should change from kitten to adult food when your kitten is 12 months.
Let your cat have 24-hour access to the dry food. Dry food will not get bad and very few cats will eat too much and get fat. Your cat should live on dry food. It has not the need of change like humans. Do not fall for offers from the supermarket even if your cat loves the taste of it! Do not give lk to your cat. It will have stomach trouble!

If your kitten grows too slowly use boiled chicken, salmon or other food with high content of protein and fat. Or try tuna in water, cod or other kinds of fish containing much protein. Try to soak a little dry food in water and even x up soaked dry food with fish.

First signs of illness
Loss of weight of the adult cat may be the first sign of an upcong disease. I strongly recommend you to put your cat on the scales every 2 weeks. You give yourself and your cat the chance to act before your beloved pet is seriously weakened.
